New Fundraising Tool For Nonprofits
by Jessica High The online world continues to grow in importance for nonprofits to connect with donors. The options continue to increase and nonprofits should investigate these resources. Most recently, DonorPerfect, an organization that helps develop fundraising software for nonprofits, has released a social network fundraising tool called DonorPages. DonorPages allows the nonprofit to set up a personalized campaign or event website from which its supporters can create their own individual web pages. This then "enables supporters to use email or social networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook to invite everyone they know to visit their “cause” page. Page visitors can then learn about the nonprofit's mission and why it is important to the supporter. Motivating page visitors to donate online, or take other desired actions such as registering for an event, signing a petition, etc., is made easy with on-page links," states PNN Online's review. Jon Biedermann, DonorPerfect Vice President, says “Social network fundraising is becoming a part of many nonprofits’ fundraising strategy, but the solutions available have been expensive, technically complex, and targeted primarily at larger organizations. We’ve designed DonorPages to make it available to virtually any size nonprofit.” With simple downloads and using the latest software for nonprofits, DonorPages is complete with all the features needed to create a compelling campaign. Already groups using DonorPages are finding success. The Make-a-Wish Foundation in Missouri created a page to highlight an upcoming fundraiser. A group found this fundraiser and created their own web page to invite others from their social networking groups to contribute. The result was over $42,000 being raised.
