A Time For Growth—Online Fundraising

Even in times of economic recession, it does not mean that there is absolutely no growth or room for giving. While donors have scaled back from supporting six charities (on average) to four, there is a huge boom in online giving.

In British Columbia, they have seen online giving increase by 500%. Even in America, this trend continues to grow. In an age that is technology driven, it is important for ministries to utilize these tools.

However, ministries must employ specific tools in order to harness this growth. Success does not come just by setting up an online donation page. There are many practices that ministries should investigate and see which would best help them. In difficult times, it will take some creative promotion to draw in donors effectively.

It is easy to get overwhelmed with all the different resources, but ministries need to start somewhere to grow their online fundraising. A few quick tips:

1)      Try out Twitter

2)      Look at updating your website’s donation page—Click here for more suggestions.

3)      Set up a Facebook account—Read our blog post on how to utilize Facebook.

It is time to dive into these incredible opportunities. Online giving will continue to grow, and ministries need to be prepared.
